Obituary of Julia Ann Brett

Julia (Julie) Ann Brett, age 91 of Grosse Ile, MI passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on October 20, 2021.

Beloved wife of the late Gilbert for 57 years. Loving mother of Gilbert, Lorie (Michael) Polgar, Patty (Mike) Migoski, and Molly (Bill) Dickieson. Cherished grandmother – affectionately Nana – of Mitchell (Kate) Polgar, Brittany (Mike) Joseph, Julianne (Ryan) Bruley, Kirsten (Larry) Kearney, Brett, Sidney, Leslie, Peter, and Charli (Ian) Baker. Dearest great-grandmother of Abbey, Lila, Miles, Eleanor, Annabel, Sam, Oliver, Violet, Parker, Maggie, and Sebastian. Julie was one of ten brothers and sisters and is survived by her brother Frank (Katie) Alandt.

Julie grew up in River Rouge, MI and attended Our Lady of The Lourdes High School. After graduating, she went on to work at Ford Motor Company as a microfilm operator. Julie married Gil, the love of her life, in 1954. They raised their 4 children in Dearborn, MI. Gil and Julie moved to Trenton, MI in 1991 to be closer to their boat at the Ford Yacht Club on Grosse Ile. They were lifetime members at the club and had many fond memories on their boat, Gil’s Jul. In 1992 after 20 years of working with children with Autism, Julie retired. She was very proud of the work that she did. In retirement, Julie and her late husband loved travelling and spent their winters in Orange Beach, Alabama.

She was a member of the Red Hat Society, the Garden Club of Trenton, and an active member of her church. She enjoyed boating, golfing, gardening, crocheting for those in need, and volunteering at the soup kitchen. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

Memorial contributions are appreciated to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 21599 Parke Lane, Grosse Ile, MI  48138.
