I didn't realize until today that Raymond Michael's obituary was on the Molnar website. Ray was my first nephew. I was all of 12 years old when he was born, but as proud as could be of being Aunt Cathy to this beautiful baby boy. My memories of him growing up include Christmases doting on the first grandchildren/nephews, nieces in the Van Hoeck family. There were three Raymond's in the family: Raymond Michael, his dad Raymond Joseph, and his grandpa Raymond Charles. All three made the Van Hoeck name proud. Now they are all residing together in the grace of God. As a child, Ray was a quiet, gentle boy; as an adult he was a quiet, gentle man. One of my most loving memories is when he came to my daughter Diane's funeral. It was difficult at times for him to participate in "social" events, so I didn't anticipate him coming to the visitation. He came up to me and hugged me for the longest time--he didn't need to say a word for I felt his sorrow and concern. May you find comfort and peace in the afterlife, Ray, and when it's my time to join you and our relatives, I'm expecting another long hug from you. Thanks for being my nephew and giving me the title "Aunt" for the first time.

I have many wonderful memories of Uncle Ray. I remember being so hopeful that he was working every time my family went to Meijer so we could see him for just a few minutes and say hi. I remember the generous mountains of presents he got us nieces and nephews on Christmas and the happiness it clearly gave him to watch our excited faces as we ripped into them. I remember his friendly greetings every time I visited grandma and grandpa, and his diligent work ethic and skill keeping up their beautiful garden. In the past few years, I have appreciated our conversations on music so much, and always looked forward to hearing his illuminating take on various artists I love. Uncle Ray was thoughtful, hard-working, and most of all, exceedingly kind. I will miss him greatly.

Ray was my brother. He was my big brother, but more importantly my friend. He was a loving, kind, gentle man. He never had an issue with giving, whether it was his money or his time. He often said he was a “simple man”, which was true. He lived a quiet life without pretense. Whatever he worked on, he would do it with care, with an intensity to do it completely and the way he thought was right. Yes, he was a simple man. But he was also incredibly complicated, especially to those who knew him. And those that did, all loved him. We loved him for who he was and will forever miss him. Chris

I just learned of Ray's passing this past week. I have known Ray for 50 plus years, as kids growing up on Grayfield. We and the "gang" certainly had our fun and adventures during those years. Ironically, after 28 years away, I am living in my family home. Ray was uniquely talented with a kind and gentle heart\soul. All to often, life happens and friendships fade. I regret not re-connecting with Ray to share those memories, but more importantly, reflect on this journey we call life. I'm sure we would have found a few smiles and laughs. Ray, enjoy your next journey, and if possible, help ease the sorrow of those you left behind.

Ray, your selfless dedication and love for your family was beyond admirable, quite frankly, unequaled! I wish that we had been able to have more time to know each other better.
