There aren't enough words to capture the person Grandma was. In many ways a person may say she was an ordinary Grandma but she was so much more.
Like any Grandma, she would pick us up so mom could have some down time. What I learned from those car rides is she was one heck of a steering wheel drummer and was well versed in tons of songs. When we would get to her house she was happy to play with us grand babies. She and Grandpa would play Pickle with us and she would chase us around until we ere laughing so hard we couldn't even run anymore.
Like any Grandma she also loved feeding us. She'd try to take us to our Doctor appointments so she could take us out to lunch at her favorite place, Olga's Kitchen, this is where I learned to love Peasant soup just like she did. I also loved the yummy homemade dinners she would make for us, my favorite her spaghetti with mushrooms! After dinner, I remember sometimes, ok almost always, she would get heart burn after differ and from time to time she needed her vanilla ice cream to make her feel better though we all knew that was not a valid medication.
I was blessed enough to also get to know my Grandma as a friend. When I turned 18 she happily started taking me to Monday night Bingo with her where I got to see a whole other side of her! I always knew she was fun and sassy but at Bingo she really shined! When I turned 21 her and Papa started taking me on Casino visits with them. While Grandpa is the more methodical player, Grandma would play like anyone expected "all in". She would get so excited and jump around as she would play!
I am also so happy that Grandma got to see me marry the love of my life and that she got a kick out of always making fun of his beard. My most great since of happiness from Grandma though comes from the providing of so much joy and pride with the expectation and then meeting of her Great Grand Baby and I am so glad that he also got some time to get to love her as much as all of us did.
Sunlight touches the Earth and provides for generations of life in its beautiful warm glow, Grandma was much like sunlight, she has left her beautiful warm glow with all of us and though we are sad we have lost such an amazing person we are grateful for the love that will resonate in our lives forever.
