Obituary of Robert Reaume
January 17, 1930 - November 17, 2017
Robert C. Reaume. Age 87 of Southgate.
Beloved husband of the late Jeannette Reaume. Former spouse of Joanne (Chinavare) LaDuke. Loving father of Linda (Bill) LaChance, William (Gail) Reaume, Debra Reaume, John (Dana) Reaume, Kristine Palmer and step father of Robert (Kimberly) Marriott and the late Lynea Marriott. Dearest grandfather of Erin, Amy, Lynea, Lori, Brenna, Tristan and Christopher. Dear brother of Marvin (Renilda) and the late Raymond. Also survived by 12 great grandchildren and mother in law Catherine Schmidt.
Robert was the mayor of Southgate from 1965 to 1977 and was the owner of River Oaks Realty.
Robert was born in Newport, Michigan and left high school very early to help on the family farm. He later would become Mayor of Southgate from 1965-1977. First, he chose to go into real estate and joined Elsea Realty long before it became Real Estate One. Deciding to go into business for himself, he owned River Oaks Realty for over 50 years and took advanced classes to help with his career, even teaching real estate classes to others. Robert had great memories of owning a cabin cruiser and a Cessna plane. He was a long term usher at St. Pius X Parish in Southgate, a member of the Lions Club, and was a ranking member of the Knights of Columbus. Robert had many friends in and around the community of Southgate, where he lived, was mayor and a real estate broker, for so many years. Grudgingly retiring from real estate in his 80’s, he never liked being retired. He will be missed by his family and so many others. We would like to add a special thank you to Melissa Fisher, who helped him so much in the last months of his life, as well as son, Bill, who carried out many missions for his dad.
