Aunt Carolie was the best! So loving, thoughtful and sweet! Her love radiated out to the world--providing warmth and light. Her hugs left you feeling happy and content. I remember being quarantined in my room one Christmas when I was about 11 y.o. Besides my mom, my Aunt Carolie was the only one brave enough to venture into the cell of my room to visit me and even kissed me on the cheek, despite my being very contagious with the Hong Kong Flu. That didn't stop her from giving her love, unselfishly. I have many fond memories of in-depth talks on the phone that translated into support, words of wisdom and love. I remember fondly of the time we enjoyed drinks with Aunt Carolie, Karen and Katie at a brew pub in Wyandotte and then afterwards, hot fudge sundae's at Sanders. She knew how to enjoy the good things in life and how to share stories and laughs, despite dealing with so much loss in her life. She kept on moving forward and praying. Aunt Carolie was a witness to us--of what it means to have faith, even in the darkest of times. She had a strong love for Christ and commitment to prayer and church. She was such an inspiration to me. Thank you, my dear, sweet Aunt. We love and miss you and thank you for being a "giver" to so many. Our love and prayers go out to the Martin and Pinkowski families during this time of loss. May the sweet memories of Carolie Martin and the prayers of those who loved her--bring you warmth and peace during this difficult time.
With Love, Jan Clements (niece)
