Obituary of Jose Zeferino Cosme

January 27, 1926 – November 27, 2017

Jose Zeferino Cosme.  Age 91 of Detroit.

Beloved husband of the late Margarita Cosme.  Loving father of Gloria (Victor) Osborne, Esperanza (Terry) Blackburn, Martha (Kevin) Keas, Yolanda (David) Kott, Perry (Heather) Cosme and Linda (Nicholas) Reyna.  Dear brother of Frank Cosme and Maria Garcia.  Also survived by 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

FAMILY TRIBUTE

Jose traveled from Texas to Michigan with his brother to look for work. He found employment at Great Lakes Steel where he worked for over 30 years. He also found the love of his life Margarita Ruiz. They were married June 23rd 1951. A year went by and they happily welcomed their daughter Gloria. In the years to come they welcomed Esperanza (Hope), Martha (Mardi), Yolanda (Yoli) and their son Perry. Ten years went by when along came their last child Linda.

Jose retired from Great Lakes Steel to enjoy the leisure life with Margarita (who he lovingly called Margo). They loved spending time at Southland mall where they shopped and people watched. They ended their days at Southland eating at one of the local restaurants. They also loved to shop at Target where they were pleasantly greeted by the regular workers.

They found joy and pride in watching the family they created become bigger and bigger with each marriage, with each birth of a grandchild, with each birth of a great grandchild and the birth of their great-great grandchild. Family meant everything to them and they have left many fond memories for us to cherish like Santa and his reindeer being front and center in the large window at Christmas time. Being stuffed in a station wagon (with and without air conditioning in some of them) every summer to travel back to San Antonio to visit our family. Seeing the Big Tire on   I-94 coming back from our trips to Texas. Laughter, smiles and fully bellies every time you were there to eat dinner with them.

He was a man of great determination all the way up to the very end. He enjoyed the little things in life like watching sports on TV, sitting at the kitchen table drinking his coffee, eating a delicious treat  and telling stories of his Glory days.

Dad/ Grandpa/ Grandpa- Grandpa, you will be missed.
