Elmer (Larry) Oatridge, Jr. Age 70 of Flat Rock
Beloved husband of Florence Oatridge. Loving brother of Nora Ciammitti. Dearest uncle of Rachael (Donald), Kati, Tiffany, Chaz, Jenny, Brittany, Little Ricky and many more. Dear great uncle of Phoebe, Lainie and Macie. Preceded in death by parents Elmer and Rosella Oatridge, and nephew Tony.
FAMILY TRIBUTE
In West Virginia, Larry tap danced and modeled on tv as a young child. At seven years old he moved from Oak Hill, West Virginia to Lincoln Park, Michigan where he attended Lincoln Park schools until 1965. He would go back to West Virginia every summer to visit.
Larry started working at Pete & Johnny's in his 20s where he met Chuck Pancoast who introduced him to the love of his life, Florence. They wasted no time with their love for one another and married 3 months later in Trenton, Michigan on March 25th, 1977.
Larry had a strong passion for working on cars and became self-employed in the car hauling industry. He suffered a heart attack in 1994 and went on disability. His passion for cars didnt subside in spite of this and he continued to work on race cars with his good friend Don. Larry loved helping out at Marvaso's Green House too. One of Larry's most precious past times was spending quality time with his three great neices; Phoebe, Lainie and Macie whether that be carpooling to activities attending sports, banquets, games and recitals or just a weekend sleepover he didnt miss a beat. He loved to travel with his dear wife Florence and would get in the car and drive to wherever the road took them time and time again.
This amazing man went through a lot in his life time including many medical procedures, countless surgeries and moving on to dialysis 3 times a week. Through all the hurdles life threw his way he always kept his brilliant sense of humor and strong compassion. He was a loyal and devoted man who could brighten anyone's day with his clever sense of humor.
A marvelous husband, brother, uncle and friend; he will not only be missed but will always be remembered as our hero.
