Schafer, Robert O. Age 89; of Grosse Ile; December 21, 2017 - Born July 3, 1928
Dearest husband to the late Barbara (2010). Loving father of David Schafer, Diane (Lloyd) Schafer-King; Debra (Howard) Phillips; and Denise (the late Brian) St. Louis. Dear "Bumpa" to Ellen Phillips and "Papa" to Amanda St. Louis.
Son of late John & Helena (Oetting) Schafer. Dear brother to the late Bernice (Harry) Hopkins; the late John H. (Esther); the late Richard and late Sharon. Brother-in-law to Herbert Smith (late Shirley); the late Darlene (J.W.) Needham; and the late Jean. Uncle and Great Uncle to many nieces and nephews. "Great Uncle Bob" to Miranda Smith, his special caregiver.
Bob loved working on cars, was in the automotive business for many years, working at Ford Motor Company for over 34 years where he retired from the Customer Service Division.
He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ choir and enjoyed singing for 50 years.
