Family Tribute

Joyce was born and raised in Wyandotte and graduated from Roosevelt in 1952.  It was there that she met her first true love,  Dick Loucks.  Joyce and Dick married and had 4 girls in 5 ½ years.  Unfortunately, their love story ended too soon when Dick died suddenly in 1972.  Joyce was left as a widow at the young age of 38 years old to raise her 4 young girls.

She dedicated her life for many years raising the girls while working at Great Lakes Steel as an Exec Assistant. During her 23-year career she made many new friends, joined clubs and teams and became an avid tennis player.  Soon after her girls left for college and marriage she met and later married her second true love, Albert Schuster.  Together they led an active life which included competitive dancing.  They lived in both Florida and northern Michigan at the family cottage on Starvation Lake.  Joyce and Albert worked tirelessly to help renovate the cottage into a beautiful lake home for all the family to enjoy.  After Albert was diagnosed with Alzheimers she dedicated her life for many years to be his caretaker.  Soon after his passing her own health started to decline.

For those who knew Joyce well, she will be remembered as a classy, beautiful and strongly independent wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend. She loved her family more than anything and loved to gather for all the family traditions in style.  Our hearts are broken knowing she is no longer with us as we find comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering.
