FAMILY TRIBUTE
It is with a heavy and sad heart that we will attempt to write the obituary of our beloved husband and father, Arthur E. Hall, who was called home on January 21, 2018 after a long illness. Arthur was born on November 19, 1931 in Melvin, Kentucky to Silas Roscoe Hall and Rilla Osborne Hall. He is survived by his loving companion, Sally Jean Potter Hall, his daughters Carrilla Hall Reuter (Michael), of Canton, Michigan and Hazel Hall of Palatine,Illinois, his grandchildren, Nicholas A. Hall of Chicago, Illinois, Matthew G. Reuter of Coram, New York, Alexander E. Hall of Chicago, Illinois and Meredith L. Hall of Las Vegas, Nevada. He was preceded in death by his son, Arthur E. Hall, Jr.
Arthur graduated from Virgie High School, in 1950 and moved to Michigan to find work as a paper machine operator and his final career was truck driver (or as Dad used to say, a transportation engineer). He returned to Kentucky in October of 1950 to marry his high school sweetheart, Sally and they relocated to Michigan, where they raised their family and became regular attendees of the Little Ida Old Regular Baptist Church of Ecorse, Michigan. On March 5th of 2017, Arthur gave his hand to the Church and became a member of the Little Ida Church.
Dad was an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan. Even after living in Michigan for over 65 years, if you asked him he will still tell you he was from Kentucky. He loved nothing more than sitting on the old front porch swing at the house on Osborne Fork and listening to a Big Blue Nation game. The mountains always called to him.
Arthur was somewhat of a medical miracle. He was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer in September of 1998 and had his left lung removed. The doctor's were not optimistic about his chances, but with the many prayers, grace of God and his devoted wife, Sally, he not only survived but thrived for more than 19 years. The doctors were always incredulous at his health and quality of life. In the end his lungs and heart just gave out and God called him home. He will missed by so many.
Written by his loving wife, Sally Hall and daughter Hazel Hall
