September 30, 1934 - November 17, 2023
Billy Gene Tackett, 89 of Wyandotte, Michigan, passed away November 17, 2023, at Angela Hospice in Livonia, Michigan. He was born on September 30, 1934 to Caleb and Annie (Caudill) Tackett at home in Hartley, Kentucky. Bill was the first in his family to graduate from high school. After high school he moved to Michigan to work where he met his late wife, Janet Leedy Tackett, and they were married on July 18, 1959.
Bill worked hard to support his family as a welder. He served in the Army, stationed in Germany. He liked to garden and collect things. In retirement, he took up bowling, golf and volunteered as a driver for Meals on Wheels for 20 years. He was a skilled craftsman and able to fix almost anything.
He is survived by his children, Bruce, Julie (Joseph), and Lora (Mark); his grandchildren, Joshua (Emily), Justin, Holly and Travis; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and his 10 brothers and sisters.
A private family interment service will be held at Michigan Memorial Park.
