Obituary of Frances Folgado

August 1, 1932 - December 9, 2023

Frances Folgado.  Age 91 of Wyandotte.  Beloved wife of the late Antonio Folgado.  Loving mother of Tony Folgado and Nancy Hatley.  Dearest grandmother of Thomas Hatley and Kelsey Hatley.

~Family Tribute~

Salvatore and Josephine Leone welcomed their daughter, Frances, into the world on August 1, 1932. She was born and raised in Wyandotte with 11 siblings, all of whom were very close to one another. Both of her parents were Sicilian, and everyone primarily spoke Italian growing up until their Mother passed away. Frances would marry Antonio Folgado in 1954 and later adopt two children, Tony and Nancy. Her family was the most important piece of Frances' life. She was a proud sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. Throughout her years, she loved to go bowling, dancing, and gambling with her friends and siblings. Frances and her husband had a large yard that she loved to garden in, which she maintained throughout most of her life.

My grandmother was one of my best friends. I spent many days after school and in the summer at her house, helping her in the garden or doing house chores with her. The smell of tomatoes on a vine always reminds me of time spent picking vegetables in the garden. I loved spending time with her, listening to her stories, and sharing my world with her. She was a fiercely strong and independent woman with a courageous will to keep going even in the toughest of times. She instilled that sense of resilience in all of her family. She will be forever loved and missed by those she touched with her life.
