Obituary of Donald F. Van Every
August 20, 1930 - February 28, 2024
Donald F. Van Every. Age 93 of Woodhaven.
Beloved husband of the late Lea Marie Van Every for 61 years. Loving father of Stephen (Michele) Van Every and Linda (Patrick) Papa. Dearest grandfather of Brenton Van Every, Kirsten Van Every, Corinne Van Every, Christopher (Jennifer) Papa and Matthew (Sara) Papa. Great grandfather of Luella, Annino, Rudy, Ellie and Maxwell. Dear brother-in-law of Carmela Veneri. Preceded in death by his brother-in-law Enzo Veneri.
Memorial contributions are appreciated to Mariners Inn of Detroit.
Family Tribute ~
Donald obtained his bachelors and masters degree from the University of Michigan, where he majored in music. He then went on to obtain a doctorate in education from Wayne State University. Donald had to take a brief pause in his education when he was drafted into the United States Army to serve in the Korean War. It was because of his education that Donald was one of the few drafted that knew how to type, which made him valuable in the United States headquarters in Japan. Donald used his education to serve as superintendent for Riverview Public Schools for many years before retirement.
Donald was a long time parishioner of Our Lady of the Woods Catholic Church and member of Kiwanis of Riverview. He served as president of the University of Michigan Club of Downriver and often performed with the Seaway Chorale for many years.
Donald had a passion for helping others, he will be missed by his family, friends and his community.
