Family Tribute ~

In Loving Memory of Danny Carl Coffey, beloved husband of Brenda, father of Danny (Jolanta), Jeffrey (Marie) and Amanda (David Pratt). Grandfather to Angelina, Jeff, Sofia, Will and Max. Preceded in death by his parents Spencer and Nellie Coffey.

On March 30, 2024, at 76 years old, we said goodbye to a man who was as passionate about the Detroit Tigers as he was about delivering his own Judge Judy verdicts with the precision of a seasoned legal (couch) expert.

Born with a strong work ethic that Danny maintained until his earlier than expected retirement, later in his life he gained a deep appreciation for time slowing down and for life's simpler pleasures. Danny knew that happiness could often be found in the most unexpected places. For him, that most recent place was his porch—his own silent sanctuary where time seemed to slow down, and any worries faded away like the setting sun. Danny’s pastime for sitting on the porch, looking after his neighbors quickly earned him the title as an honorary neighborhood watch dog. Danny was also an avid collector of random mementos that he swore would one day be valuable. But Danny’s collection of memorabilia was more than just a display of his love for things (like Elvis); it was an invaluable reminder of the memories he cherished most dearly, especially as his time began becoming jumbled, his memories started to fade
away, and even when his words were getting lost. Each item held a story to him, a connection to a moment in time that he held close to his heart—a reminder of the good, healthier times he had and the value of these times that filled his life most with joy.

While he may have left us all with a few more gray hairs, Danny also left behind a legacy of unforgettable memories. We'll miss his dry humor, his quick quibs, and his unique perspective on life. In his own way, Danny taught us the importance of slowing down, of taking the time to appreciate the world around us and the people who fill it with light. His legacy lives on not only in these memories but in the lessons he imparted with every silent nod and knowing smile. May he still continue to watch over all us (and his neighborhood).
