Obituary of Catherine A. Roberts

December 31, 1949 – April 26, 2024

Catherine A. Roberts.  Age 74 of Clermont, FL, formerly of Wyandotte.

Beloved wife of Raymond Norkus. Loving mother of Amanda (Jason) Trombly. Dearest grandmother of Evelyn, Reagan and Brynn. Dear sister of Barbara Files, Peggy Reed, Joe (Tammy) Rogers, Mary Anderson, Dorothy (Herb) Brighton, Connie (Keith) Larsen and Judi (Doug) Barton. Also survived by Amy (Jeremy) Lehman, Megan Malone, Maria Carta and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents Lewis and Dolores Rogers.

Family Tribute ~

Catherine came from a loving family and humble beginnings. She was a remarkable woman who went from running a one-person credit union out of a trailer to being named one of Detroit Crain's Business Magazine's top most influential women in Metro Detroit. During her three decades of work within the credit union movement, Catherine was a pioneer, becoming the first woman on the board of the World Counsel of Credit Unions. She received many prestigious awards for her accomplishments including the Michigan Credit Union League's Distinguished Service Award, the Girl Scouts of America's Woman of Distinction Award, and an honorary Doctorate of Law from Davenport University among many others. 

While she was very successful in her business life, Catherine managed to foster loving and lasting relationships in her personal life. She took great pride in her daughter and granddaughters and showered them with love. She was a dear friend and mentor to many people across the globe and was a loving and supportive wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and mother. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
