Obituary of Richard "Dick" Lein
October 7, 1938 - May 25, 2024
**Richard Andrew Lein (Dick), 85, of Brownstown Township, MI, passed away May 25, 2024**
Dick was born on October 7, 1938, in Portage, Ohio to Walter and Norma (Armstrong) Lein. He graduated from Portage Township High School in 1956. He met his wife of 62 years, Beverly, in Bowling Green, Ohio, and they were married on February 7, 1959, in Monroe, MI. Beverly preceded Dick in death in October 2021, which was his greatest loss in life.
Dick served in the Army and stayed in the National Guard Reserves for several years. He began a career with Dana Corporation in Toledo, Ohio, where he worked as a machine repairman. He became involved in the union at Dana and served as a shop Committeeman before being elected Vice President of U.A.W. Local 12. While serving at Local 12, Dick accepted a position at U.A.W. Solidarity House as an international representative. He retired from the U.A.W. in 2010. After retiring, he later served on the VEBA board until he resigned in 2021 at 81 years old.
Dick loved sports, especially baseball, and was a big fan of the Cleveland Indians. He also loved bowling and achieved the incredible feat of three perfect 300 games, demonstrating his dedication and mastery of the sport. Dick continued to bowl until the last couple of years of his life.
Dick was always there to help relatives and friends with household projects. He loved woodworking and took great joy in making handmade gifts for family and friends.
He was quick with a joke and loved to be the life of the party. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him. We can find peace in knowing he is back with the love of his life.
Richard is survived by his children, Kim (Mike) Nyitrai, Richie (Dave) Sigler, and Brenda (Ed) Morse; his grandchildren, DeAnna, Britney, Michael (Jessica), Ashley (Ken), Bridget (Sergio), and Cody; along with six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, James Lein, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Norma (Armstrong) Lein, his brother Larry (Moon) Lein, and his sister Mary Rawlins.
**Rest in peace, Dick. You will be dearly missed.**
