Obituary of Kenneth C. Laforet, Sr.

 

April 9, 1952 - May 31, 2024

Kenneth C. Laforet, Sr. Age 72 of Southgate.

Beloved husband of Susan. Loving father of Kenneth (Corey) Laforet Jr. and Eugene (Sarah) Laforet. Dearest grandfather of Tia Laforet, Leland Laforet, Finley Laforet, Peyton Laforet and Kenzie Laforet. Dear brother of Theodore Laforet Jr., Jacqueline (William) Szumanski, Leonard Laforet, Penny Lane and Debbie (Jack) Ruff. Brother-in-law of Ardyth Gadille and the late Robert Bedore. He was preceded in death by his brothers; Robert Laforet, Ronald Laforet, Norman Laforet, Lawrence Laforet, Russell Laforet, Fredrick Laforet, and Allan Laforet.

Family Tribute~

Ken was born the 11th of 13 children in his family. He met the love of his life Susan (Gadille) in
Lincoln Park, and was married for over 50 years. They had two sons, Kenneth Jr and Eugene,
who gave him 5 grandchildren that he loved dearly.
Ken was employed by Monsanto Chemical in Trenton and was active with the OCAW union in
the plant. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus in Trenton, and Downriver Walleye
Federation. He was also involved with the American Red Cross assisting with blood drives in the
downriver area.
While his sons were growing up, he became an active member of the Southgate Baseball
Association. He was a coach to them and many other kids for over 18 years. During this time he
made lifelong friends with many of the people involved in baseball in the area.
He was an avid golfer, fisherman, and hunter. He also enjoyed his time spent sitting on the
beach in Florida watching the waves roll in. His favorite activity was watching his grandchildren
in all of the sports and activities that they were involved in.
Ken was also known as Mr. Frog, and Frog by his friends and family that he loved dearly. All
who will miss him greatly.
