~Family Tribute~
Charlotte graduated from Melvindale High School, and went on to attend Michigan State University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. Next she attended and completed her Master’s Degree from Eastern Michigan University. She participated in Rainbow Girls, Eastern Star. and Delta Zeta Sorority while at MSU.
Charlotte worked her entire career of 42 years in the Melvindale-Northern Allen Park School system as an early elementary school teacher. During that time she successfully taught and mentored a meaningful amount of children, until her retirement in 2007. She kept long lasting friendships with many colleagues, and looked forward to running into former students. She enjoyed and took great pride in taking care of her yard, home and garden. She especially loved planting flowers just after Mothers Day each year. Charlotte cherished friendships old and new, she was a trusted confidant, as well as comrade to many. She particularly enjoyed traveling with family outside of the country, and cheering her grandchildren at travel sporting events. Grandma Char was always up for a road trip!
Charlotte lived a life of grace, generosity, kindness and class. She always stepped out in style, from the top of her head to the tip of her fingernails, down to the spiffiest of her soles. She mothered with love, and levelheadedness, that both of her children learned and flourished from. She was loved so very dearly, and she will be deeply missed.
In Lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to Michigan State University in Memory of Charlotte L. Johnson, allocated to the memorial scholarship fund: givingto.msu.edu/gift/?sid=18677
