FAMILY TRIBUTE
Elisa was born March 14th, 1928 in a small town called Joconoxtle, Jalisco, Mexico. She grew up there until she married Antonio G Muñoz on January 3rd, 1946. She immigrated to Detroit in the Fall of 1946. Although she only had a first grade education, she taught herself to read and write in English and later studied and became a U.S. citizen in 1984. She was intelligent and wise and we learned by her example. Elisa was a dedicated wife and mother to six children. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting and doing word searches. She also loved gardening and tended to a variety of beautiful flowers in her yard. She was an amazing cook and unfortunately took all her cooking secrets with her! (Lisa & Gloria don’t know how to cook authentic Mexican food!) Tamale making every New Year’s Eve was a family tradition for over 50 years. Elisa was a proud and loving grandmother and great grandmother. There was never a “No” when it came to her grandkids and she always made sure they felt loved. She was the best grandma anyone could ever want. Elisa was a humble servant of the Lord. She was a devoted church member of both Holy Redeemer and Ste. Anne’s of Detroit. Even though she’s no longer with us, she has had and will continue to have a lasting impact on all of her family and friends.
