FAMILY TRIBUTE

Claire E. Lubaway, growing up, attended St. Patrick’s school from grades 1-8 before moving onto Gabriel Richard for grades 9-12. After graduation, she attended Sienna Heights University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she earned her Montessori Degree. She spent forty years teaching Montessori schools before retiring in October of 2017. She was also a Catechist teacher for 20 years.

She spent her childhood going up north where she would chase and catch lightning bugs all summer. Claire loved going to the library to sit up in the turret and read books. Every summer, Claire and Susan always managed to find some kind of trouble to get into.

Claire was a member of the Sienna Heights University Alumni. She would attend many functions with the members she graduated with. She also worked on Gabriel Richard School. Claire took Holy Eucharist to the Homebound from the Parish.

During her free time, she liked to travel up north or take a cruise. Claire once took a trip to Mexico to visit friends. She had a wonderful time during her England and Paris trip with her son, Josh, daughter-in-law Cassie and Cassie’s mom Cheryl. While up North, she would take horseback riding lessons even though she would get bruises all over. Claire enjoyed playing dominoes with friends. She also loved to crochet blankets for her great nieces and nephews when they were born.

Claire would have liked to be remembered for her great affection for all of her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She always found a way to make the young family members feel so special. She had a generous heart, kindness, and caring for all. Her love of everything Montessori, from the kids, to teaching others about her “stuff” will never be forgotten. She was the best buddy of Uncle Landon, whom she called “Unc.” Every morning, she would call him at 6am to get both of their days started.

For all of these reasons, we will always remember Claire – especially how much of a loving mom, sister and friend she was.
