Obituary of Alvin R. Goins
June 4, 1943 - August 3, 2024
Alvin Ray Goins. Age 81 of South Rockwood.
Ray was born in LaFollette, Tennessee, on June 4th, 1943, to Mattie Isabell Goins (Smith) and James Alex Goins. While growing up in Tennessee and later in Michigan he made many friendships he maintained throughout his life. He graduated from Riverview High School and went on to graduate from Ferris State University. After college, Ray served in the Army as a Medic. His overseas service during the Vietnam War led to a handful of lifelong bonds, including the one shared with his best friend Dan Fifer of CA.
Ray met and married Faith Bulemore (Gennrich) of Trenton, MI and together they had one daughter, Laura Christine Goins.
While working at Ford Motor Company he again made many friendships that lasted into his retirement. During his later years Ray spent much of his time golfing, watching golf and waiting for the golfing season to start. He also enjoyed spending time with his daughter, his son-in-law Aaron Shaul and his only grandchild, Elsa Davis Shaul. He was a proud and involved grandpa, and his bond with Elsa was filled with hugs, humor and joy. Ray's legacy is one of love, compassion and humor that touched the lives of so many people.
He is survived by his daughter Laura Goins and her family, his beloved sister Sylvia (Donald) Trombley (Goins) and many, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is survived by his ex-wife Faith and her brother, Hans Gennrich. He is preceded in death by his parents. He will be deeply missed and remembered as a kind soul who loved music and dogs and invited humor and friendship into his life.
Please join his family for a celebration of his life on Sunday, August 11th. Visitation is at Molnar Funeral Home-Brownstown Chapel. Visitation will begin at noon and will conclude at 4:00 PM with a short memorial service officiated by his nephew Elder John Trombley.
