Tamara was strong-willed and incredibly determined, which was proven time and time again through her determination to beat cancer. She never gave up. Diagnosed with lung cancer in 2016, she never let cancer win – she fought it and remained positive throughout the battle.
Tamara was born with a heart of gold and had the desire to take care of people. For 23 years she worked as a pediatric nurse in Massachusetts taking care of terminally ill children. Tamara not only took excellent care of her patients, but she also took care of her family – in 2011 she moved back to Michigan to care for her dad when his health declined. Eventually she went back to Massachusetts only to be called back to Michigan when her mother’s health declined. It was around this time that Tamara was diagnosed with lung cancer and she medically retired.
She was passionate about volunteering and would devote every Thursday and Sunday to helping at St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Grosse Ile where she also led Bible study every week. She also volunteered at Open Book Theatre in Trenton. She ushered almost every show and took on many behind the scene roles.
