~ Family Tribute ~

Pete Korogiannos immigrated to the United States in the early 1950’s when he was in his early 20’s. Despite the distance, he never forgot his roots, sending money home to his parents well into his marriage with his wife, Peggy. While he visited Greece several times, it wasn’t as often as he would have liked.

Pete was married to Peggy for 63 years until she passed away in 2020. They had 3 children: the late Gus, Maria (the late Paul), Dino (Tracy) and 2 grandsons, Nathan and Lukas. He absolutely loved being around his two grandsons and would light up every time he would see them.

Pete was known for being sweet, kind, a hard worker and a great provider for his family. He worked on the blast furnace on Zug Island at Great Lakes Steel, and also owned a restaurant with his brother in law for many years. He worked both jobs until he retired from Great Lakes Steel in 1994. His passions were boating, fishing, his vegetable garden, traveling, the Detroit Red Wings and WWE wrestling. He also loved taking care of his little birds (finches).
Pete was deeply loved by so many. His radiant smile was unforgettable—everyone who knew him would recognize him by it. He had a zest for life, especially when it came to parties and Greek dancing. Above all, he fiercely loved his family, especially his grandsons. We are left with so many laughs and fond memories. He was extremely hard headed but lovable. Though he faced a hard life, he also created countless cherished memories.

Pete is a cancer survivor, having been cancer-free for 25 years—a testament to his strength and resilience. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the American Cancer Society in his name.
