FAMILY TRIBUTE
Kathleen Emily Tanguay (Nestor) was born and raised in Wyandotte, MI with her brother and five sisters. She graduated from St. Patrick’s, where she was vice president of her class. During the war, Kathie worked at Great Lakes Steel, and eventually met her husband, Raymond Tanguay, at a social event after work. Soon after they wed, they welcomed Kathie, then Don, Linda and Tim. They moved to Southgate, where they became one of the founding families of St. Pius Church. They were happily married for 54 years.
Kathie held many roles at church and school over the years. She served as president of the Rosary Alter Confraternity (RICA). She was particularly active in the annual St. Pius festival, working many different jobs over the years. One year she even won the raffle and $10,000!
She had a lot luck everywhere she went, and she enjoyed visiting the casinos downtown from time to time. She was always involved in many activities including the walking club, bowling leagues, pinochle club, and was an avid tap dancer well into her 80’s. She kept in touch with high school friends, and kept weekly dinner dates with friends into her 90’s.
Kathie was the kind of grandma who got down on the floor to play with the kids. She enjoyed all 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren (soon to be 22!)
Kathie had friends everywhere she went, could light a room with her smile and stop babies from crying with her laugh. She was a consistent source of love for her family. She felt like a friend and was always fun to visit with. She will be missed.
