Obituary of Jean M. Neuman
Riverview, MI – Jean M. Neuman, 87, passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2010 of natural causes.
Beloved wife of the late Louis F. Neuman. Loving mother of Margaret (the late Gene) Fleszar, David (Cheryl) Neuman and William (Suzanne) Neuman. Dear grandmother of Cortney (Sergey) Shimunov, Joshua Neuman and Catherine Jean Neuman. Great grandmother of Hannah Shimunov.
Born Jean Marie Haney on December 22, 1929, she was raised an only child in Friendship, Wisconsin. She showed great drive and talent for the sciences as well as the piano. Jean was the only girl in her High School Physics class and graduated as class Valedictorian. She went on to complete her studies at Mount Sinai Hospital in Milwaukee, WI to become a Registered Nurse, working many subsequent years in private practice.
She met her late husband Louis in high school, where it was love at first sight when she first saw him singing in a barbershop quartet. After her nursing studies and his bachelor’s degree, they were married and ultimately spent 58 happy years together, raising three very thankful children. They relocated several times for work, finally settling for the long run in Riverview, MI in 1974.
Over the course of Louis and Jean’s time together, they were active in church and community, volunteering their time and resources to a number of local organizations.
Donations can be made to the Penrickton Center for Blind Children in Jean’s memory.
