Obituary of Helen Louise Bono
March 15, 1928 - July 13, 2018
Helen L. Bono. Age 90 of Woodhaven.
Beloved wife of the late Mariano “Mike” Bono. Loving mother of Frank Bono, Dennis (Judy) Bono, Donald Bono, Denise McPartlin, Susan (Frank) English, and Pamela Bono. Also survived by 3 sisters, 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren.
FAMILY TRIBUTE
Helen Bono was raised in Detroit Michigan by her parents James and Marie Dicks. Helen had 7 sisters and 1 brother.Helen graduated high school at St. Vincent’s in Detroit, Michigan in 1947 and a year later married the love of her life Mariano “Mike” Bono in 1948. They honeymooned in Niagara falls. Helen and Mike had 6 children (3 boys & 3 girls), 8 grandchildren & 7 great grandchildren.
Throughout her life, Helen was an avid bowler, loved to play bingo and go to the casino. She enjoyed making and selling crafts, as well as, going shopping. Helen enjoyed family events and sitting down with family and friends to talk and drink wine. But most of all Helen loved spending time with her family, friends and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she adored.
Family and friends of Helen describe her as such: Regal, loving, fun, compassionate, energetic, nice, witty, amazing, proper, graceful, adventurous, elegant, funny, warm, eloquent, modest, wine connoisseur, caring, dashing, very prominent lady with integrity and honor who will be deeply missed by so many.
During Helen’s life she had jobs of importance and was involved in organizations but what really touched her heart was her compassion to help people in need. For over the last 20 years, she was involved with the Woodhaven Seniors and in charge of the Woodhaven Seniors Commodities which provided food to help the needy in the community.
Helen Bono has touched and filled so many people’s hearts with love and kindness. She will be deeply missed by so very many people but she will never be forgotten… Love you always and forever…
