Family Tribute ~
A loving sister, mother and grandmother. Brenda will always be remembered for her kindness, generosity, strength and courage. Brenda was the daughter of Helen and Geza Madarasz. She grew up in Lincoln Park, Michigan where her talents shined as a ballet dancer, pianist and basketball player.
Brenda married and had two children, Johnny and Dawn. She was a remarkable mother who loved to play board games, read and go on adventures. Despite her son’s illness, Brenda was determined to give him the best life he could exploring nature, playing with other kids in the neighborhood and camping. She led both her children with her example – showing them the importance of empathy and caring for everyone she met. Whether it was shoveling a neighbor’s driveway, sending cards of support or trying to save someone’s life. Yes, she was a true hero trying to save someone’s life with CPR.
Her secret talents included sewing. She is most famous for her “Spooktacular” homemade Halloween costumes sewn with love for her family and friends. She also showed her love through her sweet treats. The Christmas season was highlighted with Brenda in the kitchen making dozens of hand decorated cookies to be boxed up and delivered to her neighbors and friends.
Brenda used her strength and courage to explore new avenues later in life. Her first adventure was working at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore as a volunteer guide at the Maritime Museum. For her care and hard work, she earned the Most Valuable Volunteer award. She returned to her home, enrolled in college and earned her degree from Dorsey Business School. She stepped out into the workforce with determination and courage. She worked as a greeter at Molnar Funeral Homes and eventually as a secretary in the Taylor School system where she was renowned for her “secret snack drawer.” She loved working with “her kids” and always was a big fan of cupcakes that were hand delivered to Miss Brenda!
Her biggest and most loved role was Grandma to Kyle, Christi and Ryan. She traveled all over the United States to be with them – from Yellowstone, Glacier, Denali, Sequoia, and Shenandoah National Parks. She was always up for the adventure – long plan rides, drives and unique modes of transportation (buses, stagecoaches, snowmobiles and snowcoaches). The highlight of any visit from Grandma was the “magic suitcase” filled with special gifts and treats for the whole family.
Brenda’s caring spirit, love and friendship will be forever missed. Always in our hearts – inspiring, encouraging, caring and loving. She will be loved always.
