FAMILY TRIBUTE
James R. Mills was married to his wife Mildred for almost 48 years. Together they had three children – Amy, Kelly and Kenneth. Growing up, James attended Roosevelt High School in Wyandotte where he graduated from in 1968. After high school, he went on to work at Mclouth Steel for many years before working at Arkema Chemicals from 1982 until his retirement in 2009. Additionally, he served as a vice president of his union local 2591. During his life, he volunteered for hockey organizations such as MAHA and USA Hockey. He spent many years coaching, managing and volunteering for youth hockey. James was best known for being generous, kind and for being a leader. He enjoyed fishing, poker, euchre, and talking on the phone – he loved to talk! Our favorite memories of him include spending time with him at Indian Lake in Manistique, Michigan, fishing the Detroit River, his cooking for the family, playing blackjack at the casino, and his love for his three grandchildren. After retirement, he would pick his grandchildren up from school every day. James would take them up north in the summer and even taught them about how to drive a boat and how to fish. He will be greatly missed.
