June 5, 1930 – September 22, 2018
Louise Yates, Age 88 of Wyandotte.
Beloved wife of the late William Yates, Jr. Loving mother of William Henry (Kellie) Yates, Christopher Joseph Yates, James Michael Yates and Mary Frances (Sal) Hansen. Dearest grandmother of William Patrick Yates, Daniel Joseph Yates, Erika Marie Yates and Jude Henry Hansen.
FAMILY TRIBUTE
Louise (Palazzolo) Yates was born during the Great Depression in 1930 to Sicilian immigrants, Santa and Giuseppe Palazzolo. She grew up in Wyandotte and was the first in her family to graduate from Theodore Roosevelt High School in 1949. After graduation, she began her career working in the "big city" of Detroit in the banking industry and eventually moved on to the the retail world working for the former landmark J.L.Hudson's store in Downtown Detroit for many years. She would later work at the department store Montgomery Ward in Southgate, Michigan where she loved spending her paycheck buying cute dresses for her nieces.
She met her husband William Henry Yates Jr. ("Hank") and they were married in 1963 where Louise would turn her sights to being a full time wife and mother to her three sons, William, Christopher, James and daughter Mary Frances. After her children were grown and out of the house she began working again part time at Taft Elementary in Wyandotte where she worked as a lunch aide for several years before officially retiring in the late 1990's.
Many children and former students would stop her when they'd see her out and about in town and always comment on how they remembered her kindness and always helpful motherly way she had around all children, not just her own.
Louise was devout Catholic who loved her faith and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was put on this Earth to be a Mother and Grandmother - and of all the jobs she's held - none was sweeter or more well suited to her than that of a "Mom" & "Grandma".
