Obituary of Dorothy Ann Grahn

July 16, 1936 – November 8, 2018

Dorothy Ann Grahn.  Age 82 of Woodhaven.

Beloved wife of the late Gregg A. Grahn. Loving mother of Gregg N. (Terry) Grahn, Dunné Zmijewski, Jennifer (John) Hanger, Claudia DiResta, and Derrick (Aimee) Grahn.  Dearest grandmother of Travis (Jackie) Grahn, Tyler (Ashley) Grahn, Amy (Brad) Schinke, Candice (Brian) Quirk, Brett (Katie) Zmijewski, Brendan Vieira, Larisa Hanger, Zach Hanger, Katia Hanger, Ana Hanger, Ciara (Charley) Orozco, Vincent DiResta, Anthony DiResta, Nicholas DiResta, Nolan Grahn, and Sarah Grahn.  Also survived by her great grandchildren Alyssa Grahn, John Quirk, Cora Grahn, Owen Schinke, Caleb Quirk, Hayley Grahn, and Tessa Zmijewski.

Family Tribute

Dorothy Ann Grahn (Dunn) was the 14th child born of Alice E. Allaire and John V. Dunn on July 16, 1936 in Onaway, Michigan.  She and her family moved to Afton when she was 7 years old.  She continued her education in Indian River graduating in 1955 from Inland Lakes High School.  A proud moment for her was being crowned Miss Onaway and meeting Governor Milliken.  She taught school for a year at County Normal.  She met her husband, Gregg A. Grahn, married on April 27, 1957 at Sacred Heart in Dearborn and moved downstate to Monroe. She gave birth to five children, two boys and three girls.  She was primarily a housewife but worked part time at night at La Z Boy while raising her children.  In 1970 the family moved to Woodhaven.  She was instrumental in starting the cheerleading program with the Woodhaven Sabres little league football.  She and her daughters coached the girls.  She later worked at Woodhaven High School as a lunch aide, a job she loved.  She knew all the kids and loved hearing about their day.  She ended her career as a bus aide assisting the disabled children in the city to and from school.  She retired and continued to live on Foxcroft Street for 48 years. She loved U of M (Go Blue), the Tigers and the Lions.  She listened to Fox News and EWTN all day long.  She also loved our Heavenly Father and was devoted to the Blessed Mother.  She often led the rosary at Our Lady of Mount Carmel. She would greatly appreciate masses said for the repose of her soul.

In Lieu of flowers , Dorothy would appreciate a Mass in her memory at the Catholic Church of your choice , or memorials are appreciated to the Downriver Right to Life or St. Stephens Catholic Church.
