FAMILY TRIBUTE

Larry was born and attended school in Eremoni, Greece. He went to a skilled trade becoming a Toolmaker and Machinist. Later Larry fought in the Greek Army and Navy during World War II He joined the Merchant Marines which brought him here to the United States. Larry began his work at American Standard as a machinist for 25 years only retiring due to medical condition. In 1955, he became a citizen where he changed his family surname from Kavounidis to Andrews

He was involved with the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association  for many years. Larry was a chanter at Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church until he eventually lost his ability to sing on key. As a very talented artist, he would draw and sketch on restaurant napkins when the whim would trigger him. Many people would keep them and others would request he draw one for them.

He will always be remembered for his kind heart and his Greek Fisherman’s hat in warm weather and his Russian hat in the winter.
