FAMILY TRIBUTE
Thank You Maria Rameriz Villarreal. If we’re fortunate enough, we all know at least one person, some are blessed enough to know more than one person, in whose presence we feel completely at ease. Someone with whom we can talk to who possesses human compassion and practices good judgment in their own life on a regular basis. These people have always been among us throughout history, but the numbers are few. Today we are gathered together to talk about one such person, Maria Rameriz Villarreal. Maria has had many names and titles lovingly bestowed upon her in her lifetime; Daughter, sister, friend, sweetie, mother, grandmother, and great Grandma to name a few. She took on each of these roles with love and enthusiasm. She was born in Mexico in November or December of 1930, depending on who you ask. She had a hard childhood but she never let the past get her down. Her family was poor. Her grandmother taught her to sew. Later in life she used those skills to help those around her, sometimes making the clothes from scratch or just mending beloved old clothing items. She was a seamstress in her own right. Maria rarely complained. She seemed to have an understanding that she lived a truly blessed life, and she was eager to share that blessed life. Often she’d send away packages and envelopes stuffed with love and a little money too, a talent, I feel convinced, she picked up from her mother Lucinda Rameriz. To Maria family was always at the top of the list. She exemplified the saying, “Charity begins at home” “Her children will rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her: “Many daughters have done well, But you excel them all.” Proverbs 31:28,29. She loved her life and family. She loved the Detroit Tigers. Ask anyone. Family was so important to her that she would exhaust her resources if necessary to ensure their health and safety. She really enjoyed when everyone got along and would do her part to bring people together. She was very talented in this area. Because of who she was and how she conducted herself, it just made most people want to comply. She lovingly attended to the needs of her own mother during her later years. She supported her husband’s need to go away on occasion to Mexico to care for her aging father-in-law. Maria welcomed unscheduled visitors into her home at any time, as long as it was before her usual bed time of 8:00 P.M. Later on bedtime changed to, well, let’s just say 6:00 P.M. became a late bed hour. If her children were her life to her, and they were, then it naturally follows that her greats, and grands, really were “GREATS” and “GRANDS” ALL CAPS, forever in her book. All her worries and cares disappeared at the Motor City Casino. She was probably thinking about the packages and envelopes she could fill up and send out. She embraced with her entire being every role she found herself in and excelled and excelled in them all. I personally never saw Maria reading her Bible, but I know that she did. I also know that she preached the gospel everyday, leaving us an example to follow in the way we should live our lives. I pray each of us will follow Maria’s example. I can almost hear her say along with the apostle Paul, “ Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ” 1 Corinthians 11:1 Loving daughter born to Lucinda and Roberto Rameriz. Caring sister to her siblings Pepe Remeriz and Consuela Remeriz Barba, Dear wife to Moises Villarreal, loving mother to; Jacinto Villarral, Beatriz Villarreal Goldschmidt , Moises Villarreal Jr., Hector Villarreal, and Margarita Villarreal DeRose. Dearly loved and doting grandma to Misty Borden Lazarek, Angela Goldschmidt Piard, Moises Jason Villarreal Jr., Stephine Goldschmidt Marx, Joseph Michael Villarreal, Lance Villarreal, Stacey Villarreal Hedges, and Christina Villarreal, Mariah Odom, and Laura DeRose and several greatgrand kids. Beloved Mother-in-law to Sherry Villarreal, Joseph DeRose, and Brenda Villarreal The world will surely feel the void left in the wake of this wonderful woman. as anyone who knew her knows, that could never be considered an overstatement. Today we say our good-byes to a precious friend to all, but do we really? No, just look around you, she lives on in the faces and lives of her family.
