At the age of 20, George joined the Army in 1952. He married Doreen Florence Hannah on December 24th of 1951. He served in the Korean Conflict in Germany in 1952 and discharged in 1953. George and Doreen had three sons. He obtained a job from Ford Motor Company as a journeyman electrician. He worked 33 years, retired, and worked an additional 10 years as a Car Transportation Specialist for Ford Motor Company.

George and Doreen had three sons. He was always a great example to his children. He and his family attended church regularly.  George was athletic and played softball and hockey with his sons when they were growing up. George always helped everyone he knew and he was quite the handy man. Being very active in the church, he served as deacon. He was a good and loyal husband and his wife, Doreen adored him. Doreen passed away in 2010. George continued to serve the church and was a member of the Allen Park Church of Christ up until his death. He was greatly loved and admired by everyone he came in contact with. His family and friends will miss him dearly.
