Obituary of Richard Lee Wahl
October 30, 1956 - March 4, 2019
Richard L. Wahl. Age 62 of Romulus.
Cherished husband of Kathryn Wahl. Loving father of Richard Allen Wahl, Angela Dawn (Shaun) Lanzi and Jennica Rachelle Wahl. Dearest grandfather of Andrew Simpson, Adam Lanzi, Aubin Wahl, Blaize Wahl and Aryanna Lanzi. Dearest son of Delores Horvath. Dear uncle of Crystal (Steven) Bolton and Brother of Deborah Giles. Preceded in death by his father Harold Joseph Wahl.
Rick was known to others as a “Mister Fix-it.” His mechanical ability and knowledge were passed down to him from his father and grandfather as well as self-study. Rick worked as a master electrician and journeyman millwright. Condolences by those who knew him have been marked by the phrase, “he was always willing to help…”
Rick was known to friends and family as Fuzz, a name given to him as a child by his grandfather (who nicknamed most family members) to describe his fuzzy hair. Fuzz had a sense of humor that will keep his family laughing for years to come. He also had an ability to connect wholeheartedly with his grandchildren; whether through caring for them or playing with them, he was truly a #1 Papa.
A celebration held in honor of Rick’s memory will be held on March 29th, 2019 from 6:00pm - 9:00pm at the UAW hall on 22693 Van Horn Road, Woodhaven, MI 48183. The family asks that instead of sending flowers, to send perennials. Richard loved to garden, and the family plans to plant a memory garden in remembrance of him.
