Obituary of M. Lorraine Delo

M.Lorraine (Grey, Perry) Delo

Born February 23,1936 the only child of Worden and Muriel Grey in Lincoln Park, Michigan. She adored her parents and the big loving Grey family and Canadian family the Olivers. Her numerous cousins were her sudo siblings and she loved them very much.  Lorrie graduated from Wyandotte Roosevelt High School in 1953 where she first showed off her artistic talents with a comic strip for the newspaper. After graduation she married John Perry and had two children Michelle (Rich) Bartha and Shawn (Jen) Perry. She moved to Grosse Ile in 1967 and loved the Island life.

Lorrie worked at Michigan Bell for 30 years starting as a service rep and working through various promotions to district manager.

Lorrie enjoyed an active life style. She loved skiing, having competitively skied with the Ski Angels. She passed her love of skiing on to her children teaching them to ski. She loved being out on the water in a powerboat or sailing and was an active member of the Grosse Ile Yacht Club, editing the Spray.

Lorrie had style and loved to entertain. Lorrie loved to host a family party, having her friends over for dinner to play cards or her bunko club. Lorrie loved her friends like family and enjoyed their many vacations together. She always had a garden that was her pride and joy.

She remarried Tom Delo later in life and enjoyed their life singing together. After retiring from Michigan Bell she worked at Greenfield Village and Lord and Taylor’s

A grandmother to Shannon, John-Patrick and Michael Pandoff.   She thought they hung the moon. She took great joy in her great grandchildren Dylan, Perry, Maddox, Eli, Abigail, and Eleanor. Her face lite up when ever you mentioned the kids or they visited.

If you knew Lorrie you knew she always saw the best in people, loved her friends and family, judged no one, was kind, caring, smart and talented. She would cook you a meal, draw you a picture or make you smile with her contagious smile and those beautiful blue eyes.

Thank you to all who loved her. Thank you to the friends and colleagues who understood during the last couple years and helped out. It is appreciated. Thank you to the wonderful staff at Raybrook Manner, 4th floor. You not only took care of her but you were her friends and family.  You were wonderful with mom and I am very grateful. Thank you to the beautiful nurses at St Mary’s 3rd floor Lax. You are Angels on earth and extremely special people. Thank you to Trisha And Aaron Case, Eric Jordan, Debbie Weiss, Chris and Mom’s buddy Shelly Weiss. You gave her a lot of joy, she adored you and I can never thank you enough.

The outpouring of love and support is heart warming and much appreciated.
