Obituary of JoAnn Mary Tanner

May 18, 1938 - August 8, 2019

JoAnn Mary Miller Tanner of Taylor, aged 81, passed away the evening of August 8th, 2019.

Born May 18, 1938 in Monroe, Michigan, her parents were Leslie and Gertrude Miller, and her
siblings were Gertrude, Louis, Rita, Donald, and Richard.

JoAnn was always proud of having been part of the workforce in an era when that wasn’t the
norm for most women, but her passions were her family, working with St. Cyril’s food pantry and
Bread for the World, singing in the church choir, and spending time with her beloved dogs
Farley and Zoe. She was also an avid gardener and loved reading historical fiction.

She is survived by her husband Edward Tanner, her daughters Ann Leslie, Amy, and Amanda
(wife of Richard Matthieu), as well as many nieces and nephews.

More than anything, JoAnn believed in being of service to those she loved, and those in need.
Her life is a beautiful example of love and faith in action, and her legacy of support and
inspiration continues on in the lives of those blessed to know and love her.

Memorial donations appreciated to Our Lady of the Angels Food Pantry.
