Alfred Lee Schaaf. Age 72 of Woodhaven.
Beloved husband of Carlene Schaaf. Loving father of Jennifer (Michael) Zindler and Kevin (Jennifer) Schaaf. Stepfather of Sunny Alexander. Dearest grandfather of Jacob Alexander, Madalyn Alexander, Stephanie Zindler and Brendan Zindler. Dear brother of John Schaaf and Charles Schaaf.
Family Tribute
Fred Schaaf was a man like no other. His quick wit and corny jokes were his trademark. Small in frame but big at heart, serving Christ by serving others was his passion. He taught sixth-graders for 34 years in Lincoln Park, challenging them all to do their best and to live an honorable life. Most students remember him best for the pancake breakfast he would cook and serve them every Friday. When he retired in 2004, he went on to volunteer at the local elementary for over 10 years. He touched so many young lives in such a positive way and was loved by many.
In lieu of flowers, donations of school supplies and backpacks are appreciated.
