Family Tribute
Howard “Jeff” Thomas accomplished a lot during his life. He was very active in the Downriver Senior Olympics and competed in various events for many years. At one point, he even tried out for the Olympics himself!
Jeff enjoyed attending sporting events with his family. His son, Jeff, took him to his first Red Wings Hockey Game. He would also take his family to see the “fights” at Cobo and Olympia for the live boxing events. One time, he attended spring training with his son to meet the Detroit Tigers for autographs and to have fun in the sun.
He also loved to sing and would take any chance he could get to do karaoke. He also sang in the choir at Peace Lutheran. Every year, they would travel to Canada to go to Wild Wood Lodge. The people up there were like family to him. When they were younger, they traveled a lot.
Jeff was a proud and active supporter of our Veterans; never tiring and never ceasing. He was so proud to be a part of the Honor Guard, and he thought it was his job to play taps for all of them. He had done this for over 3,000 Veterans.
He was also a caregiver, taking care of his wife when she became ill.
Jeff will always be remembered for all the good he had done and we hope that God joyfully brings him into His fold.
