Obituary of Bob Belisle

September 1, 1930 – April 16, 2017 Bob "Smokey" Belisle, Age 86 of Southgate. Beloved husband of Margaret for 58 years. Loving father of Robert Jr. (Denise) Belisle, James (Sherry) Belisle, Kevin (Dalila) Belisle and Timothy (Robin) Belisle. Proud grandfather of Jessica, Michael, Zakary, Mitchell, Ryan, Zane, Ashlynn, Tedi, Chas and Alex. Dearest great grandfather of Sawyer, Lux and Maggie. Dear brother of Frances Williams, Nina Dorr and Diane Sanflippo.
FAMILY TRIBUTE
Bob “Smokey” Belisle was born in Ecorse on September 1st, 1930 to Ernest and Frances Belisle. The 5th of eight children, he grew up a very active kid who loved all sports. Bob attended St. Frances Xavier in Ecorse, graduated in 1949 where he played baseball and football. Immediately follow graduation, Smokey went to Jenkins Kentucky pursuing his dream of playing major league baseball. Duty called and Bob enlisted in the Marines during the Korean conflict, honorably discharged after 2 years of service as a Lance Corporal. Smokey began his 40 year career in the beer business where he served as a driver salesman and a salesman. Retired in 1992, he enjoyed music, golfing, fishing, drawing, painting, finding golf balls and collecting (stealing) pens. An extremely selfless man, Smokey would do anything for anybody. Others before himself, his true love was his lovely wife Margaret, his 4 boys, 10 grandchildren and 3 great grand kids with one on the way. He never forgot a name because everyone was called “Babe”. Our world will be a little bit emptier without you. You will be missed dearly but your love for life and your spirit will live on through all you have touched. Semper Fi.
