Obituary of Ann M. Cowan
October 19, 1952 - October 3, 2024
Ann Marie Cowan (Golding) died peacefully at the age of 71 on October 3, 2024. Ann was born to Maurice and Shirley (Tompkins) Golding, on October 19, 1952, in Southfield Michigan.
Ann is survived by her children; Adam Cowan, Daniel Cowan (Lauren), Matthew Cowan (Katie), and Elizabeth Jakovich (Brett). She has 13 grandchildren: Liam Cowan, Erin Cowan, Isaac Cowan, Layne Andersen, Malone Cowan, Autumn Cowan, Gabbriella Cowan, Grayson Cowan, Samuel Cowan, Sullivan Cowan, Ezekiel Cowan, Cole Jakovich, and Kellen Jakovich. Ann was also a foster grandmother to four boys who absolutely adored her: Mason, Amir, Amarion, and Kharti’air.
Ann began working in the insurance industry, in early 1980, with Citizens Insurance. Not long after, she was hired by a startup company called Kenrick Corporation, in the mid-1980s. Kenrick Corporation provided insurance for cities and townships throughout the across the US. Ann continued her education and earned several professional designations as an insurance underwriter, including her CPCU. Over the next 25 years, the company grew exponentially, she worked her way up to earn the Senior Vice President of Underwriting position.
Ann had an endless passion for horses, especially breeding and raising multiple World & Reserve World Champion American Paint Horses. Her love for horses was passed on to her daughter as well as her granddaughter Gabbriella.
Ann loved nothing more than talking about her children and grandchildren. She was fortunate to live in California and Virginia for a period of time with her daughter Elizabeth and family. A few years ago, Ann moved back to Michigan to be closer to her son Matt and his family.
